Odyssey of Hope is the life story of entrepreneur and philanthropist Joseph Kazickas, a Lithuanian immigrant who found freedom and success in America after a dramatic escape from his country during World War II. Through courage, hard work and perseverance, Kazickas overcomes adversity and achieves what could be considered the best of the American dream: an Ivy League education and great success in Used Booksiness. Despite his accomplishments, Kazickas never forgets his homeland. When Lithuania breaks away from Soviet control in the early 1990s, Kazickas dedicates himself to helping the burgeoning democracy achieve economic prosperity.
Kazickas’s daughter Jurate, the editor of the English translation, presented her father’s memoir at a June, 2011 Balzekas Museum Lithuanian Book Club event.
