Lithuania is on the eastermost edge of the European Union, and at the same time it is at Europe’s centre. Europe stretches all the way from the Atlantic to the Urals. Lithuania shares borders with the eastern part of this area, which is made up of lands belonging to Russia and Belarus. It has been a member of the European Union since 2004.
