About the Author
I was born seven days after the Russian invasion of Lithuania in 1940, June 22. I lived under the Russian occupation for one year and then the Nazis came with their occupation on June 23, 1941. My first memories are of being a refugee and fleeing to Germany from the Russian Army. So by the end of 1944 we were chased by Russians, despised by German Nazis and bombed by Americans. We finally were gathered together by the Americans into DP camps and waited for some country to let us emigrate. I grew up in those stormy times and was lucky enough to come seek the American Dream. My adventure of survival during the war, and finally the need to learn another culture, language, and adjust to become a real American is an interesting story.
